the age i recommend tulpamancy is as follows
16,
but also, if you're immature/dumb, anywhere from 18 to never
and if you're mature/smart, 14
the problem is that people are very bad at judging their intelligence
a poll once found that 97% of university professors thought their teaching skills/standard was 'above average'

Waaaay back in the day I had someone try to do a healing session with me over IRC. Guy told me to sit down and wait things out in DMs, so I sat on my bed and closed my eyes and waited and all that. They told me all sorts of stuff about me then were like "did you feel anything"
I meant I understand why you hate the term soul. My point is that even though it’s a vague term it does clarify meaning. Soul is distinct from psyche or consciousness in its connotation

It’s also probably vague because it means a lot of different things specifically across cultures.
Well hate is probably a strong word I just don't think it has any real use for me personally since I consider my self to be my psyche or consciousness rather than some vague idea of a "soul" I actually just put it as a spiritual version of the subconscious in that regard. Something that isn't you which holds you but in a spiritual sense. Which I know just like how physicalists disagree that the body isn't you some spiritual people will probably disagree with my interpertation that the soul isn't you
That’s fair, I think! I’ve never thought of that. I would say I am much more my soul and psyche than I am my body. But I’m sure many people feel differently
Milk
Were you here for like my four hour break down where I kept going down the spirit keeping rabbit hole
Okay well basically it’s this community where people “purchase spirits” and then they like. Either do spiritual workings with them, keep them as like sort of an odd pet, or it’s more of a tulpa type situation
we tried talking to some occultists about the ethics of summoning/enslaving/banishing spirits/demons etc as well but didn't find any takers on that either xd
They have a deep parinoia regarding control and tell you to do stuff like constantly double check and create weapons against your tulpa and stuff like that.

As if they could go rouge and take over your life or harm you spiritually.(edited)

@Reguile - jump
Oh for sure. They are constantly horrified that we would just let go of control for tulpas as well and even gasp encourage their independence. Real culture clash there
I honestly thing a big fraction of that is the occult side has a lot of undiagnosed mental illness and from their perspective the "out of control actors" are a much larger threat so that exists as a coping mechanism?
Or maybe it's a technique to appeal to "seriousness" like - if you talk about this big threat of how the tulpa will be too independent, it leads to a person having a much less prone to be questioned belief in "normal" non-rouge independence. Like "Of course my tulpa is independent, I have to fight to keep them in check!"
They show up with eyeliner and sad music sung by a guy with a black shirt and spikey hair talking about how life is suffering and how they control their hosts day to day life to keep them safe from the evil world and their host worships them as a god.

They they stop posting after a few months when they get bored
idk. Like we are created mental beings and like I joke that we are superior and all at times and in some instances even believe it but idk feels weird to think you are a God and stuff haven't seen a tulpa like that before
1:34 AM
But I guess if other people can have delusional superiority complexes so can tulpas XD so makes sense in a way that cases like this can occur
One theory/interpretation I am working on atm is considering the base physical laws of the universe as rules-based magic. I started dividing up and categorizing various hypothetical magical system but then realized that the physical laws of the universe would fall under my rules-based magic system XD
Well it might go deeper than that since we are exploring things at a quantum level but like general relativity? The speed of light in vacuum? Probably like some of these things are like arbitrary rules imposed on the universe. What is that if not magic?
